Job Description

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Engineering Instructor to join a Maritime Training Centre located in the Netherlands.  

As an Engineering Instructor, you will instruct and teach ship-board personnel, as well as involved in developing best practices that can be used on board the ships. An important element of the role will also be to visit our cruise ships from time-to-time, thereby ensuring that the teachings from the classroom and simulators are actually implemented on board.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

As an Engineering Instructor, you are an integral part of the team, being a role model for the Engineering / Technical Staff. Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering training to ship-board technical staff
  • Developing courses/new procedures to be implemented on board ships
  • Keeping up to date with current practices and technology
  • Regular ship visits to maintain/update practices on-board

REQUIREMENTS

  • Typically be or have been in the role of Chief Engineer/Superintendent, First Engineering Officer or a Subject Matter Experts (SME) Management level certificate of competency
  • Cruise Ship experience is preferred
  • Experience in teaching/instructing would be an asset
  • Works well in a team

Job Description

We are currently looking for a LNG Engineering Instructor who has particular experience with ships using LNG fuel, in order to develop training for and teach Officers working on the new LNG fueled ships due for delivery in 2018. 

The successful candidate must be able to work with the existing team of instructors and developers, and the key responsibilities/duties will include:

Data gathering on the new LNG fuelled ships currently being built. (Dockyard visits will be required)

Developing training courses for staff working on the new LNG fuelled ships.

Delivering training to Technical Officers and other ship-board staff as required. This will include existing training courses in addition to the primary role of LNG training

Performing assessments of Technical Officers and other ship-board staff.

Developing existing staff knowledge of LNG practices

Keeping up-to-date with current regulatory requirements / practices and technology.

REQUIREMENTS:

Experienced Marine Engineer with a minimum of 5-years’ on-board experience required

Management level Certificate of Competency (COC) -Class 1 preferred

Experience with LNG or LPG is essential.

Job Description

We are currently looking to recruit a full time Hydrodynamics Engineer with proven experience in Dynamic Mooring Analysis and Ship Hydrodynamics

The chosen candidate will be primarily responsible for performing at least 20 detailed mooring studies per year for cruise berths from ports around the world. Special projects will include passing ship effects, LNG side-by-side bunkering operations etc.

Other responsibilities: performing mooring analysis to support cruise ship operations, acquiring all the required data together with Port Study Captain, assessing moored ship response under environmental loading such as wind, current and waves, performing passing ship-moored ship analysis (including hydrodynamic interaction), performing mooring analysis for side-by-side moored vessels (ex. during LNG bunkering operations), generating mooring line loads, bollard forces and fender compression and reactions etc. 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s degree in a relevant technical discipline (Naval Architecture, Civil Engineering)

Minimum 2 years of proven mooring analysis experience

Experience in using Optimoor, aNySIM, Orcaflex or similar mooring software

MATLAB or similar programming language experience

Proficient in technical report writing

Proficient in Microsoft Office

Experience in using 3D panel method (AQWA, WAMIT, DIFFRAC or similar software) for calculating vessel response to first order wave effects

Familiarity with PIANC and OCIMF mooring related guidelines

The ideal candidate will hold a hospitality degree and have a minimum of 3 years experience in this role. Excellent administration skills and communication skills are essential. Candidate should also have exceptional leadership skills.

STCW certification will be required, as well as, a Seafarer's Medical certificate
