Since its humble beginnings in 1988 Dieter has been at the "helm" of Viking Recruitment, steering the company from strength to strength, year on year.
He is ultimately responsible for the overall Company - as they say 'the buck stops with him'. In addition, Dieter provides a valuable contribution to the industry itself, with his involvement in many initiatives to improve maritime awareness in careers and training. He is ideally placed in this, sitting as he does, on various committees and steering groups such as the International Superyacht Society.
He oversees a team of dedicated professionals who operate a company, which may not be the largest, but is most probably the best positioned in today's Cruise and Superyacht industry.

Matthew Jaenicke Managing Director

As Managing Director, Matthew is responsible for overseeing all Offices, Associates and Departments worldwide within the Viking group and reports directly to the Chairman and other Directors.
Matthew is also instrumental in the advancement of the company in different sectors, new business/Clients and of course making sure existing Clients and Candidates are more than happy with all the services they receive.
Matthew joined Viking in 2001 as Marine Administration Coordinator, but prior to this his seagoing career spanned 8 years having spent the last 5 working in the Hotel department of Holland America Line and Windstar Cruises. His early career was spent in the Guest Services department at Stena Sealink, sailing out of Dover on cross Channel ferries.
In keeping with all the team at Viking he is determined to ensure that administrative standards are in line with the latest Quality Assurance standards and that they, together with all Client Company policies and procedures, are constantly reviewed and enhanced.

Don possesses an extensive marine background with recent experience of Fleet Personnel operations in cadet, recruitment and training functions within the cruise industry. He believes strongly in cadet development and retention of experienced officers through career development to deal with the demands of life at sea. The responsibility of all Public Relations, Advertising and Marketing of Viking is managed by Natalie.
Since joining Viking in 2003, Natalie has been heavily involved in the advancement of the company with the creation of the online recruitment database and the rebranding of the company image.
With this all now completed, her main focus is to ensure that the new image is maintained, on everything, from advertising and company literature to events and exhibitions.
Prior to joining Viking, Natalie gained her OOW Certificate of Competence after completing a Deck Cadetship sponsored by Trinity House. From this, she gained a wealth of maritime knowledge which is invaluable to her fellow colleagues within Viking and the clients she interacts with.

As Recruitment Director, Mark oversees all aspects of Recruitment and Travel within the organisation.
Within the global Recruitment team, he, along with the other consultants, are available to provide advice and guidance to those candidates looking for employment within the growing maritime industry or those wishing to join it for the first time. He is also able to guide new and existing clients, whatever their requests maybe.
Due to the natural crossover of clients, the Travel department also come under the direction of Mark. Here he will support the Travel Manager to develop and deliver new business.
Mark is also involved with the expansion of the Super Yacht Officer Cadet Scheme, a process where, using his ongoing professional relationship with our existing clients, he and the recruitment department are able to assist with finding cadets suitable sea-time.

Paul has been working in the industry for many years, having first joined P&O in 1997. Since 2000 he has travelled extensively throughout the world for Swan Hellenic, including Antarctica, the Far East, Middle East, India, as well as all corners of Europe, South America and the Caribbean.
Paul is no stranger to Viking, having spent a year working as part of the Recruitment team prior to returning to sea as Deputy Cruise Director in 2008. Now firmly back on dry land, Paul's wide experience and knowledge of the maritime industry means he has a solid understanding of what both our clients and candidates require and in turn the challenges that this exciting industry has, this makes him an excellent asset to the team here at Viking.

Prior to joining Viking, Vanessa worked at one of the leading maritime colleges in the UK initially as a Course Administrator and subsequently moved in to Marketing where she gained a CIM Diploma in Marketing.
Vanessa's primary function is to assist the Marine Training Manager in the selection, recruitment and training of the Officer Trainees (Cadets).
As part of her function she is required to liaise with the Nautical Colleges where the Officer Trainees undertake their training, and also with the Officer Trainee's, as well as making college and ship visits to monitor the Trainee's progress, and to look after the Trainee's general welfare whilst they are under training.

Training is a second career for John who retired in 2006 as a Master Mariner and after completing over forty years of seagoing Military and Civilian service. His career encompassed time on a wide variety of ships from tankers to ferries to civilian manned military support vessels.

In this position Emily oversees all aspects of the management of seagoing personnel for many of our prime clients in the cruise & yacht industry.
After completing a 3 year cadetship through Viking, with sea time on both Holland America Line and Windstar Cruises vessles, she continued her career as a qualified Deck Officer for a further 2 years with Holland America Line.
Emily has been fortunate to have travelled the world extensively during her time at sea, visiting many ports in Europe, North & South America, Africa and Antarctica. With these experiences she brings an excellent knowledge of rules and regulations as well as a solid overview of all aspects of working at sea.

After completing a 3 year cadetship through Viking, with sea time on both Holland America Line and Windstar Cruises vessles, she continued her career as a qualified Deck Officer for a further 2 years with Holland America Line.
Emily has been fortunate to have travelled the world extensively during her time at sea, visiting many ports in Europe, North & South America, Africa and Antarctica. With these experiences she brings an excellent knowledge of rules and regulations as well as a solid overview of all aspects of working at sea.
