With Phase 1 of the Maritime Skills Academy well under way the site has been extremely busy with numerous heavy machinery coming in and out of the grounds.
The last 4 week have seen the basement level being dug out, which consists of a 27m2 hole, 7m deep and approximately 4,000 tonnes of dirt and rubble being excavated. Over the coming weeks we will see the drainage systems being put into place as well as the formation of the basement and pool. This phase of construction is expected to last until the first week in August where we will start to the structure come out of the ground.
