Philosophy
The maritime industry has now entered the 21st century and Viking has positioned itself to be one of the main players in the source and selection of Deck and Technical Officers and Hospitality/ Guest Services professionals.
Our mission reflects the belief that Viking exists primarily to meet the needs and demands of the maritime industry worldwide. We are committed to excellence and customer service, and are justifiably proud of our reputation as a consistently dependable source of quality individuals to the marine sector.
The commitment to excellence was originally endorsed by our approval by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance to the ISO 9002:1994 Quality Management System Standard for the "The provision of recruitment, training services and associated travel to the merchant navy, for officers, cadets and other supporting marine personnel". Our attainment in September 2007 of the latest certificate of approval reference BS ENISO 9001:2000 is an achievement which few companies in similar areas of business have been awarded.
Our recruitment process is designed to select candidates, of good appearance, attitude and interest who demonstrate a professional approach to their potential employment.
However, we believe that such individuals are selective and have a choice of employer. The philosophy of Viking is not to persuade or cajole: we prefer to offer candidates the very best of opportunities, in Companies of the calibre of Holland America Line, Windstar Cruises, or perhaps, some of the finest superyachts. Much of our recruitment process, too, is involved in providing sufficient Company information and guidance if requested, to enable Officers to make an enlightened and perceptive decision, to best suit their unique experience and career aspirations.
Where possible, our new recruits are taken through a comprehensive induction procedure to ensure they are fully prepared for their new placement and will be of maximum benefit to their employers.
As a natural progression we support both Clients and Candidates in the provision of associated training, travel and operational needs.
